KLE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY CENTRAL LIBRARY
To save users' time, KLE Technological University Libraries have been spread into 3 Libraries, i.e. The Central Library, Management Library, and Architecture, across the campus, besides the school/departmental libraries. In addition, the KLE Society’s Law College, Bangalore Campus, and the Library and Information Center, JnanaChetana, Belagavi Campus.
Central Library came into existence in 1947 and was relocated to the New Library Block (C-Lite) in 2003, with a carpet area of 3000 sq. Mtrs have state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities with 600 seating capacity.
The Central Library has 103718 volumes of books and 42491 titles. The Central Library is also subscribed to 188905 ebooks from EBSCO Academic Collection with EBSCO Business Elite sources. The Central Library collects ebooks from IEEE MIT Press, IEEE Wiley, McGraw-Hill Access Engineering, Pearson Education, PHI India, New Age International, McGraw-Hill Express, Elsevier publishers, CBS, and VIDEEYA ebooks perpetual access.
The Central subscribed to 61 National and International printed journals predominantly related to engineering, Technology, management, and allied subjects.
The Library subscribes to 29450 full-text E-journals from IEL ONLINE COMPLETE PACKAGES, ASME, ASCE, ACM Read & Publish Model, EBSCO Management, EBSCO Art and Architecture, and Automotive Abstract. In addition, there are 800 CDs & DVDs.
Digitization of organized collections of e-resources or publications of Faculty publications, Project Reports, Some of the rare collections of books, Question Papers, Seminar papers, and Theses are being uploaded to the Digital Library server using DSpace, which is accessible within the Campus. Digitization process using CZURTEK ET 16 PLUS BOOK SCANNER being carried out.
The Digital Library set up in Central Library is well facilitated with a high bandwidth of 710Mbps, and the complete Campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
The Library has automated its services using the Web-Based Library Management System CONTINEO, a comprehensive package to deal with most routine library transactions. All the resources have been completely barcoded, which helps with transactions, OPAC (online public access of catalogues), and book reservations.
The Library has facilitated remote access to e-resources through the services of the KNIMBUS Digital Library Platform with Remote Access Solution.
To promote e-learning, the library has video content management software and hosts NPTEL Video Streaming Courses on local servers. GATE Tutor for GATE aspirants streamed across the Campus and remotely 24 x 7 uninterruptedly.
The Central Library provides a Technology Platform and Database of plagiarism-checking tools “Turnitin Web Tool”, GATE Tutor and “Grammarly Check” in support of R & D activities for students and professionals, it also developed IRINS (Indian Research Information Network Systems) services of KLE Technological University.
The Library has RARE & Specialized collections of books, nearly 1250 with 1500 copies.
The Library has bound volumes of journals bounded since 1970. There are also 123 Architecture Design Portfolio sheets & 800 IS Standards/Data Hand Books.
The primary services are open access to resource lending of books, reference/referral service, Indian standards, SC/ST book bank scheme, POOR STUDENT book bank scheme, BRILLIANT STUDENT Book Bank Scheme, and Reprographic facilities.
The Central Library has institutional membership in DELNET, the E-SHODHSINDU consortium, e-SHODHGANGA, CURRENT SCIENCE, NDLI National Digital Library of India, SWAYAM, and NPTEL.
