Library Rules

Admission to the Library

All members are required to deposit their belonging at the property counter at their own risk. The library is not responsible for any loss or damage to the same. Taking a briefcase or bag inside the library is strictly forbidden. Users should let the security; check their personal belongings, like books, files, etc., before they leave the library premises.

Care of Library Materials

Library resources such as books, journals, electronic materials, etc., are costly and are often rare. They are for the benefit of the present and future members of the library. Therefore, one should not write upon, damage, torn down the pages or mark on any library materials. Tracing or copying any is prohibited by copyright policy, and users shall be solely responsible for any violations. Before leaving the issue counter, members should satisfy themselves on whether the library material lent to them is in sound condition. If not, they should immediately bring the matter to the knowledge of the library staff at the issue counter; otherwise, they are liable to be held responsible for replacing the book or paying such compensation as fixed by the librarian.

Clearance Certificate

All those who leave the institute must surrender their membership card to the library and obtain a "Clearance" certificate from the librarian to ensure that they owe no dues to the library, including any overdue charges.

The following policy for acceptable use of computers, networks, and system resources, including Internet and e-resources, shall apply to all KLE TECH UNI administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Shall use All technology equipment under the supervision of the Library Staff. Any user who violates any condition of this policy is subject to disciplinary action. Users expected to observe network etiquette by being polite. Students are prohibited from pretending to be someone else, transmitting obscene messages or pictures, revealing personal addresses or telephone numbers-either their own or another person's; or using network in a way that would disrupt the use by others.

  • Every user whose name the internet access account issued by the INFO CELL will be responsible at all times for its proper use.
  • Users shall not let other persons use their names, login IDs, passwords, or files for any reason. Users shall not use others' internet access accounts or try to discover another user's password.
  • Downloading the articles/books, chapters through Robotic Crawling or by using downloading software is strictly prohibited as per the publishers' policy. If the publisher notices a rule violation, it will block access to such resources by KLE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY users.
  • Users shall not erase, rename, or make useless anyone else's computer files, programs or disks.
  • Users shall not connect to a mobile or any other external device. Users may not install, download, copy, or distribute copyrighted materials such as software, audio or video, files, graphics, and text without the written permission of the administrator.
  • Users shall not use computers for illegal purposes, support of illicit activities, or for any other prohibited activity.
  • Users shall not write, produce, generate copy, propagate, or attempt to introduce any computer code designed to self-replicate, damage, or otherwise hinder the performance of any computer's memory, file system, or software. Such software is often called a bug, virus, worm, Trojan horse, or other names.
  • Users shall not use computers to purposefully distribute, create, or copy messages or materials that are abusive, obscene, sexually-oriented, threatening, harassing, damaging to another's reputation, or illegal. If accidental access to prohibited materials occurs, users expected to immediately discontinue such access and report the incident to the Library staff or the administrator.
  • Users shall not use the library network for sending and receiving a large number of personal messages, including using group email distribution lists to send non-administrative or non-instructional messages to other users.
  • Users shall keep the sanctity of the library and keep the premises clean.
  • The authority of the Central Library is the sole authority to judge disciplinary behaviour inside the e-library lab. In violation of any of the above rules, the administration reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action against the violators.

CHIEF LIBRARIAN

User Education Program aims to expose users to enhance their literacy skills in utilizing the library resource collections, services and facilities provided by the library. Activities such as First-Year Seminar, Soft Skills, Specific Information literacy class and Database offered to the user.

  • Every member of the Library must prepare to identify himself/herself when requested to do so.
  • Outwears, briefcases, handbags, files, umbrellas and similar items should be deposit at the checkpoint before entering the Library. Personal book(s) shall not be allowed inside the Library. Please leave them at the Property Counter.
  • Use of mobile phones inside the Library is strictly prohibited. Shall consume No refreshments or foodstuff of any kind shall be consumed anywhere inside the Library. The Library user shall not engage in loud conversation in any part of the Library.
  • Keeping in mind that a Library is a place of individual study and research, members should maintain an atmosphere of dignity, peace and silence within the library premises.
  • The reader should check the books before borrowing to ensure that these are not damaged. If a book found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book. Otherwise, he/she shall be held responsible for the damage discovered when returning the books. All textbooks must return before the due date.
  • Must return Documents in time to make them available for use by others. Overdue library books, other than the Reserve/Reference Documents, incur a fine. Until the dues cleared, we will withhold the borrowing facilities. May reduce Borrowing entitlement if a member observed returning document/s late on more than three occasions. The Librarian can recall any issued document at any time.
  • A misplaced book is temporarily lost. To avoid misplacement, should leave the books taken from the open shelves table/trolley. Should handle Library materials with utmost care. Nobody should write, damage and make any mark on any library materials. Materials damaged, defected or lost must be replaced; otherwise, the borrower will realize. A person responsible for any damage caused by him/her to books or any other property belonging to the Library shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon him/her by the Librarian.
  • Members should keep the Library informed of any change of address during the period of their membership.
  • Members should return all materials borrowed from the Library before proceeding on any extended leave.
  • Members should not sub-lend the materials borrowed from the Library.
  • Materials that are issued should be produced for the security to check. The Security Guard at the Library gate will check all personal belongings, including Library books given to a member.
  • Suggestions for purchasing books and other materials and improving the library services are welcome.
  • Can suspend membership privileges of user on account of misbehaviour with the Library staff or for indecent manners.
  • The Librarian has the power to cancel tickets and refuse admission to anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the Library or indulges in any other type of misconduct.
  • Silence must observe in the Library.
  • Photography is not allowed.

REGISTRATION & MEMBERSHIP POLICY

All the students, faculty members, and staff of KLE TECH and Research scholars of KLE TECH, who are engaged in Research under the faculty of KLE TECH are users. Constituent colleges of KLE GROUP and Other organizations or industries are eligible to become members of KLE TECH CENTRAL LIBRARY.
